Staying Safe in the Hot Weather

☀️ Staying Safe in the Hot Weather ☀️

With the temperatures rising, it’s important to take extra care—especially for older adults and young children, who can be more affected by the heat.

💧 Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Avoid too much caffeine or alcohol, as these can lead to dehydration.
🏡 Keep cool: Stay indoors during the hottest part of the day (usually 11am–3pm), keep rooms shaded, and wear light, loose-fitting clothing.
👶👵 Look after the vulnerable: Check in regularly on elderly relatives, neighbours, and young children to make sure they are comfortable, hydrated, and not overheating.
🚨 Know the signs of heat exhaustion: Watch for symptoms such as dizziness, headache, nausea, sweating, or confusion. Seek medical advice if you’re concerned.
📞 Appointments during hot weather: If you are unable to attend your appointment due to the heat, please let us know. We may be able to offer a telephone consultation or reschedule your appointment for another day.
